About Crane Genie

Crane Genie is an intelligent engineering automation platform being built by FDES Technologies, specifically designed for EOT (Electric Overhead Travel) crane manufacturers and design teams. It will automate the full design-to-documentation workflow — from structural calculations and component selection to drawing generation and BOM creation — using embedded engineering rules and standards.

We are looking for experienced crane design engineers who can bring deep domain expertise into the product. Your knowledge will directly shape the rule engines, calculation logic, and design automation workflows that power Crane Genie.

What You'll Do

  • Design and validate EOT crane configurations including single/double girder, underslung, and gantry cranes across capacity ranges
  • Translate standard crane design rules (IS 3177, IS 807, FEM standards) into structured logic that can be embedded into the automation platform
  • Collaborate with the software development team to define input parameters, design rules, and output formats for Crane Genie
  • Perform and verify structural calculations — girder sizing, wheel loads, end carriage design, runway beam checks
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, BOM structures, and technical documentation in AutoCAD or Inventor
  • Validate automation outputs against real-world crane designs to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Contribute to building a library of validated design templates and calculation references
  • Work closely with product management to define scope, acceptance criteria, and test cases

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in EOT crane design and engineering
  • Strong knowledge of crane design standards — IS 3177, IS 807, FEM 1.001, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor for 2D/3D crane design
  • Experience in structural calculations — girder design, deflection checks, fatigue analysis
  • Familiarity with crane components: hoists, trolleys, end carriages, drive systems, electrical panels
  • Ability to clearly document design rules, assumptions, and calculation procedures
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills — able to explain engineering decisions clearly to a non-engineering audience

Good to Have

  • Exposure to automated drawing generation or parametric CAD modeling
  • Experience with any CPQ or product configurator tools
  • Knowledge of crane testing, load testing procedures, and site erection
