About the Role

FDES Technologies has spent 19+ years turning engineering rules into production software for manufacturers in 20+ countries. We are engineers first who learned to write serious software, not a software firm guessing at engineering. AI is the newest tool in that kit, and we treat it the way we treat everything else: prove it works before we promise it.

We get asked one question a lot, from our own roadmap and increasingly from manufacturers who saw what we do: "Can AI actually solve this?" Your job is to find the honest answer, fast, with a working prototype and a clear write-up. This is a hands-on research role for someone who would rather build a rough proof of concept in a day than debate it for a week.

What You'll Do

• Take a real question ("could an AI model read these drawings and extract the bill of materials?") and run it to ground: research, prototype, test, report
• Build quick, throwaway proofs of concept using current AI models, APIs, and agent tooling to see what holds up and what breaks
• Evaluate feasibility honestly: what works today, what does not, and what it would cost and take to build for real
• Read unfamiliar API and model documentation and turn it into a working experiment
• Write every investigation up in a short, reusable report, so the next person starts from your finding, not from zero. This part is not optional, it is half the job
• Explain your findings in plain language to engineers and customers who are not AI specialists
• Help shape how FDES answers incoming AI inquiries from manufacturers

What We're Looking For

• 0–2 years of experience. Fresh graduates and final-year students with strong projects are encouraged to apply
• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field. Strong self-taught candidates with a solid portfolio are welcome too
• Genuine curiosity, and a habit of finishing things. You ship a scrappy prototype rather than sit on a perfect plan
• Comfortable with Python and reading API docs you have never seen before
• Hands-on exposure to LLMs / AI tooling: coursework, side projects, or serious tinkering all count
• Able to write clearly. You can turn a messy experiment into a one-page finding someone else can act on
• Honest about results. "It mostly fails, and here is exactly why" is a great answer here
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail

Our process is straightforward, and every stage happens at our Hyderabad office:

• Written test: when we receive a large number of applications, shortlisted candidates first take a written assessment on our exam portal at our office. It helps us screen fairly and quickly
• Technical interview: a conversation about how you think, how you approach problems, and your hands-on experience
• Practical solution implementation task: a short feasibility check on a real-world problem, so we can see how you work

We care far more about your honesty and reasoning than about a perfect result. It is the fastest way for both of us to know if this is a fit.
