New role · SolidWorks · Inventor · AutoCAD API
CAD Automation Developer
Build the automation that turns days of repetitive CAD work into minutes. Write add-ins and configurators on the SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD APIs, for a mechanical mind who enjoys programming.
About the Role
FDES Technologies has spent 19+ years turning engineering rules into production software for manufacturers in 20+ countries. We are an engineering-first software company: we turn the rules engineers carry in their heads into software that automates CAD, drawings, and documentation.
This role is ideal for someone from a mechanical or design engineering background who enjoys programming. You will build automation on the SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD APIs: add-ins, plugins, parametric configurators, and automated drawing and BOM generation. Because you understand engineering drawings, you can translate real design rules into reliable, production-quality code.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain CAD automation tools and add-ins using the SolidWorks API, Autodesk Inventor API (iLogic and Inventor API), and AutoCAD API
- Build parametric models, rule-based design automation, automated drawings, and BOM generation
- Translate engineering drawings, rules, and design standards into structured, maintainable code
- Work with senior engineers and clients to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- Debug, test, document, and release automation applications
- Maintain and enhance existing automation projects over their lifecycle
What We're Looking For
- 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience on the SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD API is preferred, so you can contribute quickly. Strong candidates with 0 to 1 year, or freshers with a good portfolio of CAD or programming projects, are also encouraged to apply
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Production / Industrial, Design / Drafting, or a related engineering field, with a solid understanding of engineering drawings and CAD modeling
- Proficiency in C# (.NET framework)
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the SolidWorks API, Autodesk Inventor API / iLogic, or AutoCAD .NET API
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
- Working knowledge of CAD concepts: parametric modeling, assemblies, part configurations, drawings, and BOMs
- Ability to read an engineering drawing or specification and translate the logic into working automation
Good to Have
- Exposure to DriveWorks or other CPQ / product configurator tools
- Familiarity with SQL and version control (Git)
- Hands-on experience modeling in SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD as an end user
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
How We Hire
Our process is straightforward, and every stage happens at our Hyderabad office:
- Written test: when we receive a large number of applications, shortlisted candidates first take a written assessment on our exam portal at our office. It helps us screen fairly and quickly
- Technical interview: a conversation about how you think, how you approach problems, and your hands-on experience
- Practical solution implementation task: a short, real-world coding task so we can see how you work
We care far more about your problem-solving and code quality than about a perfect result. It is the fastest way for both of us to know if this is a fit.
