About the Role
FDES Technologies is an engineering-first software company. Since 2007 we have turned the rules engineers carry in their heads into add-ins, configurators and drawing generators for manufacturers in 20+ countries. SolidWorks (Dassault Systèmes) has published a case study on our design automation work. Our order book for SolidWorks and AutoCAD automation is growing, and we need experienced engineers who can take a project from customer requirement to shipped tool with minimal supervision.
This is a hands-on role. You will write most of the code on your projects, review the code of others, and act as a mentor to our trainee batch of CAD Automation Engineers.
What You'll Do
- Design and build automation on the SolidWorks API in C#: add-ins, task-pane tools, configurators, automated drawing and BOM generation, PDM integrations
- Deliver the same on the AutoCAD .NET API and Inventor API / iLogic when projects call for it. Most of our engineers work across at least two platforms
- Take requirements directly from customers' engineering teams in the US, Europe and Asia, and turn them into a scoped, estimated plan
- Own delivery: architecture, code, testing against real customer data, documentation, release
- Extend and reuse our internal automation framework rather than starting from scratch
- Review code, set standards, and mentor trainees and junior engineers
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years building software on the SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Inventor API, with at least two shipped tools you can talk about in detail
- Strong C# and .NET, solid object-oriented design, and comfort with COM interop and its quirks
- Deep working knowledge of at least one CAD platform as a user: features, configurations, design tables, assemblies and mates, drawings, sheet metal or weldments in SolidWorks; blocks, layers, tables and paper space in AutoCAD
- A mechanical or design engineering background, or equivalent experience reading drawings and specifications
- Able to estimate work, communicate clearly in English with customers, and hold a delivery date
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Hyderabad
Good to Have
- DriveWorks, Tacton or other configurator platforms
- AutoCAD ObjectARX, accoreconsole batch processing, or the SolidWorks PDM API
- SQL, WPF, Git
- Experience mentoring or teaching
